What is Skan?
Skan is an iOS app that turns expense tracking into something you'd actually use. Photograph a receipt and Skan extracts the details for you, across whatever currencies you're spending in.
Does Skan support multiple currencies?
Yes — this was the whole reason Skan exists. Unlike trackers that assume a single currency, Skan handles multi-currency spending natively, including conversion between the currencies you use.
How does receipt scanning work, and is it private?
When you photograph a receipt, text extraction happens entirely on-device using Apple's on-device technology. Your receipt images and the data read from them never leave your device — nothing is uploaded to us or to a third-party OCR or AI service. See the Skan privacy policy for full details.
Does Skan sync across my devices?
Yes, via iCloud Sync, built on Apple's CloudKit. Your data is synced across your devices through your own private iCloud account — we never have access to it. Sync is on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings.
Can I use Skan without iCloud?
Yes. If you turn off iCloud Sync, your data simply stays on the device it was created on. There's no account to create and no sign-up required either way.
What happens to my data if I delete Skan?
Your data lives locally on your device (and in your private iCloud if Sync is on). Uninstalling the app removes its local data from that device. You can also edit or delete any entry at any time before that.
Does Skan support Siri Shortcuts?
Yes — you can log expenses hands-free using Siri Shortcuts integration.
What if I made a mistake — can I undo it?
Skan includes a soft-delete recovery system, so accidentally deleted entries can be recovered rather than being lost for good.
What languages does Skan support?
Skan is localized across multiple languages, with more added over time.
